Randeep Singh Surjewala, senior Congress leader from Haryana and In charge of All India Congress Committee’s Communication Department has raised very relevant questions regarding the alleged stalking and attempt to an abduction of the daughter of a senior Haryana IAS officer by the son of Haryana BJP chief Subhash Barala.

We are sharing the video feed of Mr.Surjewala’s media interaction at the AICC on Monday.

Here are the main highlights:

Describing the episode as sordid and unfortunate, Mr.Surjewala said: “With a sense of responsibility, I want to say that, Union Home Ministry which directly controls UT Chandigarh Administration and UT Chandigarh Police, is conspiring to hush up the entire matter to protect the Haryana State BJP President and his son. There are four facets of this conspiracy – the first one is – is it not true that Chandigarh Administration and Chandigarh Police are directly controlled by the Union Home Ministry? Then why are they going out of the way to hush up the matter instead of punishing the guilty?”

Why did the Chandigarh Police omit the sections pertaining to “abduction and attempt to commit an offence” and then proceeded to lodge a case which is under Bailable offences on the direction and the dictates of the Union BJP Government which is trying to cover up and hush up the entire matter.

“Now it is again transpiring that CCTV footage of five different cameras out of seven, which have covered this entire episode, have gone missing. Will the BJP Government and the UT Administration answer – how is it that suddenly all those CCTV cameras have stopped functioning? How has all the CCTV footage gone missing? So, even before you have registered a case under correct Sections, the CCTV footage is gone. Does it not show that the Union BJP Government is giving dictates to protect the Haryana BJP President and his son?

“Is this the transparency that Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaks about? We have released the video of the girl in question and this girl has clearly said that she has stated so before the Magistrate in a statement under 164 and she is saying so again on camera that there was a clear-cut unequivocal attempt to abduct her. But why has no FIR been lodged? She said it is not my duty to write Sections but the people whose duty it is, they are derelict in their duty on account of political pressure. ”

“Will Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President Amit Shah answer to the nation, about why Haryana BJP President and his children are being protected in this fashion?Last but not the least, when a similar unfortunate incident happened involving son of a senior Minister in Haryana Government a few years ago, the national BJP leaders including Mr.Modi,Mr.Shah, Home Minister Raj Nath Singh,Sushma Swaraj,Arun Jaitley along with Ram Bilas Sharma, the then State BJP President and many others, demanded the  resignation of the Minister holding him accountable.”

“”Will now the BJP, the Prime Minister and the national BJP President adhere to the same standards that the Congress Party had adhered to and  accepted the demand. The Minister had himself come forward and resigned and his son had faced trial.

“So, why double standards being adopted by the BJP is a question that the country wants the Prime Minister, the national BJP President and others to answer.”
