The Haryana Government has decided to constitute a Committee chaired by Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma to decide and deliberate upon the character, scope and modalities of the proposed Pandit Lakhmi Chand University of Culture to be set up at village Aterna, district Sonepat.
While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that other members of the committee would include Art and Culture Affairs Minister Kavita Jain, Administrative Secretary of Higher Education Department, Vice-Chancellors of Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, Indira Gandhi University, Meerpur and Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak, and IAS (Retd.) Rajiv Sharma. He said that Director General, Higher Education Department would be the Member Secretary of the Committee.
He said that the State Government has decided to give importance to the culture of the state as well as its creators to provide values and cultural treasures to the young generation. Therefore, setting up of a University would be appropriate and befitting tribute to Pandit Lakhmi Chand to his everlasting contribution to Haryanvi Culture, he added.
