EDUCATION OFFICER NABBED RED HANDED BY VIGILANCE

Punjab State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing campaign against corruption on Thursday, nabbed a Block Primary Education Officer (BPEO) posted at Nakodar in district Jalandhar while he was reportedly accepting a bribe.

An official spokesman said that BPEO Amrik Singh was arrested by a vigilance team while he was allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 1,500 from a teacher of Government Primary School Raipur Baghela, Block Nakodar for sanctioning her increment case.

Giving details he said after verifying the complaint, the VB team laid a trap and the accused officer was arrested and Rs. 1,500 was recovered from him in the presence of two official witnesses. A case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered and further investigation is in progress.
