Reacting to the Haryana Government sponsored BJP’s ‘Yuva Hunkar’ Rally held in Jind, R. S. Chaudhary, Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) National General Secretary asserted that it was a “flop show” over which the Government had spent crores of rupees to make security arrangements.
Talking with the media here, he demanded that since it was a party function, therefore, the expenses incurred on making the security arrangements should be borne by the BJP. He hoped that the Government will soon recover all the money and inform the public.
Mr. Chaudhary said that the failure to muster the youth of Haryana must have acted as a mirror to the BJP and it must have realized that in a democracy people cannot be befooled for long and that they do not live by false promises and ‘jumlas’ of the Modi-Shah school of politics.
He regretted that the BJP has achieved the dubious distinction of being the only national political party whose Finance Minister can make false claims in the Lok Sabha without batting an eyelid and whose national President comes to the heartland of agrarian Haryana and claim that the farmers have been paid MSP for Rabi crops in accordance with the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission Report.
Exposing the lie of the claim, the INLD General Secretary said that the Agriculture Department of Haryana had claimed that the cost of production for wheat for the current year was Rs. 2,250/ per quintal and accordingly the Government of Haryana sent that estimate to the Central Government. In view of this, any MSP that is less than Rs. 3,000/ per quintal would be a mockery of the farmers of the country, and yet, the MSP announced for wheat is a meagre Rs. 1,735/ per quintal – a far cry from 50 percent profit over and above the cost of production.
He warned that these blatant lies will be remembered by the farmers of the State in particular and country in general and a befitting reply would be given at the appropriate time.
Mr. Chaudhary also contested the claim of Mr.Amit Shah that Haryana had been rid of corruption and that the Chief Minister had a clean image. He accused the State Government of rampant corruption at every level including the purchase of benches and interlocking tiles and even questioned the image of the Chief Minister under whose patronage the biggest mining scam of the State has been going on. In the infamous Dadam mining scam, the reverberations have reached the Supreme Court which has wondered how and why the CM was approached directly by the said company for appropriate directions in its favour.
He also condemned the timing of the forthcoming budget session of the State since it has been known for the past two months that INLD has organized a rally in Delhi on March 7 to demand justice for Haryana over SYL canal construction. The Government’s  decision to unveil the budget on the said date was a deliberate ploy to keep the INLD out on crucial days of the session. He also regretted the whole schedule of the session was flawed since it leaves little time for real and genuine debate over the Governor’s Address and the budget.
